Spain-headquartered Boluda Corporación Marítima has opened a new Netherlands head office in Rotterdam, through its subsidiaries Boluda Towage and Boluda Shipping. The office will serve as the centre of its operations in Northern Europe. The move comes as the company looks to consolidate its growing footprint in a region where it already operates across 21 ports.
Boluda Towage began working in the region in Germany in 2017, later expanding into the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Finland and Norway. Rotterdam became one of its main operational hubs along the way. The company operates in more than 21 ports across Northern Europe with a fleet of 138 vessels and experienced local crews.
“These new headquarters reflect our long-term commitment to Northern Europe and our ambition to continue growing alongside our customers and partners in this strategic region,” said Vicente Boluda Ceballos, executive chairman of Boluda Towage.

Northwest Europe represents a strategic area for Boluda, the company said, bringing together some of the continent’s most important logistics, industrial and maritime hubs. Over the past decade, the company has established a leading position across the region, providing essential maritime services in some of Europe’s busiest ports and logistics corridors. Rotterdam is Europe’s largest seaport and a key gateway for goods moving into and out of the continent.
Expanding in a competitive market
For Boluda, opening a dedicated head office in Rotterdam is more than a symbolic move. It gives the company a physical anchor in one of Europe’s busiest port complexes, where competition among towage and shipping operators is intense. Local crews and vessels already in place mean the company can respond faster to customer needs along the busy Rhine-Scheldt corridor. The decision also signals that Boluda sees long-term growth in the region, not just short-term contracts. The company’s fleet of 138 vessels is a size that’s not small, giving it the capacity to handle a range of maritime services from harbor towage to terminal support.
Short-sea services connect Iberian Peninsula to North Sea
Boluda Shipping further strengthened its presence in the region in 2023, launching regular short-sea shipping services connecting the Iberian Peninsula with the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Ireland. That move reinforced Rotterdam’s role as a strategic logistics hub within its European network, the company noted. The new head office in Rotterdam will coordinate both towage and shipping operations across Northern Europe, bringing together the two subsidiaries under one roof.
