Amsterdam Brewery accountant joins Royal Unibrew
Emmanuel Ediale received his CITP®|FIBP® designation in August 2024, marking the culmination of years spent working in global business operations. His experience spans cross-border trade, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making within forward-thinking organizations.
From logistics to leadership
Ediale began his career in international trade right after college, taking a finance position at a logistics firm. There, he handled financial aspects of cross-border operations, learning about trade finance, operational risk, and the movement of goods. This early experience shaped his career, providing a practical foundation in the mechanics of global trade.
Recognition and relationships
Ediale’s career includes key technical achievements, such as managing projects from start to finish and adapting to changes in accounting standards like the shift from IFRS 4 to IFRS 17. Yet the recognition he values most comes from personal interactions.

“I’m proud to have served as a trusted and positive reference point for both customers and colleagues,” he said. That trust has led to performance-based bonuses and awards, including “best employee” at company celebrations. These honors reflect a career built on both expertise and reliability.
The FITTskills program helped refine his approach to global business. Courses in international trade, business finance, sales, and marketing provided new ways to understand operations. One course, International Market Entry Strategies, proved especially useful. “I believe this was the background to understanding the map flow of international trade,” he said. The instructor’s clear explanations and structured lessons made complex ideas easier to follow.
The training expanded his analytical skills and strengthened the strategic mindset he brings to his work. It also prepared him to pursue the CITP designation, which he viewed as a way to formalize his expertise.

A designation with purpose
Ediale called earning the CITP a rewarding milestone. His understanding of trade resources has grown over time. Early in his career, he wasn’t aware of the support available to small and medium-sized enterprises. Learning about organizations like Export Development Canada and their services—financing, insurance, risk mitigation, and global market guidance—changed his view of opportunities for Canadian businesses. “This was an eye-opener for me,” he said.
For those entering the field, he recommends exploring these resources and networks. Many specialized institutions exist but remain underused. His own experience shows how formal training and credentials can complement hands-on experience and create new opportunities.
